ResearchTrail Ltd. ("we", "us" or "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains the accepted privacy practices for our website at researchtrail.com ("ResearchTrail™").

This policy covers, among other things, what personal information we collect from you, whether you are a registered user or not, how we use the information, with whom we share the information, the data obtained automatically when you use ResearchTrail™, and how we retain it.

We may change the terms of this Policy from time to time. We recommend that you read it periodically.


What Personal Information we collect

When you register with ResearchTrail™ we will ask you to provide your e-mail address and perhaps additional personal data. The fields for compulsory completion will be explicitly indicated. If you do not enter the requisite data in these fields, you will be unable to register with some or all of the services on ResearchTrail™.

We may collect further information when you use ResearchTrail™. For example, we may record the frequency and scope of your use of ResearchTrail™, the duration of your sessions, web pages that you visit, content that you use or post, advertisement banners that you click on, the Internet protocol (IP) address from which you access ResearchTrail™ and the geographic location from where you logged-in. Our servers, like other web servers, automatically gather this information, through the use of log files. If you are registered with ResearchTrail™, the information we gather may be anonymous or in some instances personally identifiable. If you are not a registered user, then we will not knowingly collect any information which may personally identify you. We use this information to derive usage statistics and to improve the system.

Further information may be collected when we exchange communications with you, for example, if you submit a request to our customer service representative, or if our designated copyright agent is in contact with you with respect to your content on ResearchTrail™.


What shall we do with your personal information?

We will use your personal information for the following purposes only:

  • To enable you to use ResearchTrail™, including the content that you post or upload to ResearchTrail™;
  • To provide you from time to time with information pertaining to our services (unless you opted out from receiving such information);
  • To adjust the services to your personal preferences;
  • To facilitate the purchase of products and services on ResearchTrail™, if and when possible, and to display information and advertisements pertaining to products and services which might interest you;
  • To contact you as and when we believe it to be necessary;
  • To send you, from time to time, information pertaining to our services, as well as marketing and advertising material, whether ours or others'. We will not send marketing and advertising material unless you give us your express consent thereto at the time of registration or at any other time. You may withdraw your consent at any time and cease receiving material of this kind, by sending our customer service representative a notification to the e-mail address: support@ResearchTrail.com. In any case, we will not share your personally identifiable details with any advertisers, without your explicit consent.
  • For other purposes stipulated in this Policy, or in the Terms of Use governing the use of ResearchTrail™ ("Terms of Use").

We may use anonymous information for the proper operation and function of the services, to improve the quality of the services and to enhance your experience, to create new services, including services tailored to users' personal requirements and expectations, and to change or cancel existing features and content. We may share such information with others, provided that it does not identify you personally.


Sharing your personal information with other users

Some personal information you provide is displayed in your profile page, which allows other users to view your ResearchTrail ID name and other information included in that page.

You may, if you wish, choose to add more information about yourself, such as your full name, location, areas of expertise, and more. Please remember that there is no obligation to do so.

The information you provide, as listed above, can be viewed by both registered users and unregistered visitors to the ResearchTrail website. Part of this information may also be available through RSS syndication.


Sharing and disclosing information

We may share personally identifiable information with others in any of the following instances:

  • When you use the services, or when you take part in any content-related activity, or request a third party's service through ResearchTrail™, or when you use such service. In these cases, we will share your information only to the extent required to facilitate your use of the services;
  • If we reasonably believe that you have breached ResearchTrail™'s Terms of Use, or abused your rights to use ResearchTrail™, or performed any act or omission that we reasonably believe to be violating any applicable laws, rules, or regulations. We may share your information in these cases with law enforcement and other competent authorities and with any third party, as may be required to handle any result of your wrongdoing;
  • If we are compelled or reasonably believe that we are compelled by law to share or disclose your information;
  • In any case of dispute or legal proceeding of any kind between you and us, or between you and other users or third parties with respect to, or in relation to, ResearchTrail™;
  • In any case where we may reasonably believe that sharing information is necessary to prevent imminent physical damage or damage to property;
  • If we organize the operation of ResearchTrail™ within a different framework, or through another legal structure or entity, or if we are acquired by or merged with another entity, provided, however, that those entities agree to be bound by the provisions of this policy;
  • We may also share personally identifiable information with companies or organizations connected to or affiliated with us, such as subsidiaries and sister-companies and parent companies, with the express provision that their use of such information must comply with this policy.


Cookies

We may use cookies on our services. Cookies are packets of information sent by our servers to your web browser and then sent back by the browser each time it accesses our servers. The cookies may contain a variety of information, such as the ResearchTrail™ pages you have accessed, session durations, and IP addresses.

We may use cookies for various purposes, such as to facilitate the use of our services, to collect statistical information about the use of the services, to verify information, to adjust the services to your personal preferences, and for information security purposes. We may also use cookies to save you the need to re-enter your username and password each time you log-in to ResearchTrail™.

Some of the Cookies may expire when the session ends and you exit your browser. Other cookies are saved on your computer's hard drive. Advertising campaigns

We may permit certain other companies to conduct advertising campaigns on ResearchTrail™. The advertisements that you see when accessing ResearchTrail™ are redirected from the servers of those advertising companies. Some advertisers may use cookies on your computer. The cookies enable them to collect information about websites that you have accessed, advertisements posted on those sites, and the advertisements that you have viewed. In this manner advertisers try to display advertisements tailored to your preferences. The use made by the advertisers of cookies is subject to their own privacy policies and not to this Policy. If you wish to study the privacy policies of those advertisers you should visit their websites, or contact them directly.


Information Security

We implement systems, applications and procedures to secure your personal information, to minimize the risks of theft, damage, loss of information, or unauthorized access or use of information. However, these measures are unable to provide absolute assurance. We therefore do not guarantee that the services and our databases will be immune from any wrongdoings and malfunctions.

Your account information is protected by a password for your privacy and security. You need to update your password from time to time to protect it against unauthorized access. You should never give out your ResearchTrail password to another person. You are advised to logoff once you have finished using the ResearchTrail website - before continuing to a different site or closing the browser window.


Updating the Privacy Policy

ResearchTrail reserves the right to change the provisions of this Privacy Policy from time to time without prior notice, but the most recent version of the Policy is always available for viewing on the ResearchTrail website. By continuing to use the ResearchTrail website you are consenting to the terms of this Privacy Policy in its most current form, so we encourage you to return here from time to time and check up on it.
